Artist's Comments

One of my fellow artists carved this delicate walrus ivory feather . It was thin and seemed like if i just applied enough pressure .....it would snap....just like a real feather would.

So I attached it to a sheet of sterling silver, and this is what it turned into.

I think it's very appropriate for this time of year....we are all waiting for the geese to start flying....and waiting for the tundra to emerge ....to be sprinkled with pristine, delicate , white feathers.....

it's beautiful... It reminds me of when I was little, my aunt gave me a necklace with a feather charm on it. Whenever I wore it, I just wished I could fly. I wish I still had it now... maybe I should find another one :P

very beautiful piece. awakes in me exactly that longing for the return of the birds which you spoke about. of course here they have done that already, but in the city you don't really notice... so happy to be home in summer, then i can wander the fields again to seek out my cranes :)

Very pretty piece =) How did you attach the carving to the silver?
